Frequently Asked Questions About The Wedding Planner School

Why should I study with The Wedding Planner School?

There are so many reasons they deserve a page of their own so click here for more info.

What award will I get on completing a course?

For short courses you will receive an externally accredited general diploma in Wedding & Event Planning or Business start-up and Marketing for Wedding & Event Planners depending on the course you have taken. Successfully completing the One-Year Course will give you an Advanced Diploma with Elite Planner status.

Are these accredited courses?

Yes. The Wedding Planner School is externally accredited by the International Association for Distance Learning for the provision of all courses related to Wedding, Event and Business and is recognised by the majority of employers and clients around the world. Credits do not count towards your UCAS score.  Graduates are entitled to state the diploma on CVs and business literature and a logo can be provided to you free of charge to show off your award. Some students use their tutor as an academic referee on CVs and you are entitled to put a free link on the student updates page of our website to advertise your business.  Completion of our courses also entitles you to apply for UKAWP membership and free membership of the Best Practice Association.

Are you a well-known organisation?

Yes, we are promoted via Learn Direct, the National Learning Register, the BBC website and The Learning & Skills Council amongst many others. We are the ‘go-to’ advisers for many respected TV stations and newspapers including several Sky TV channels, The Guardian, The Telegraph,

and numerous wedding magazines. We liaise with TV production companies about filming the experiences of our trainees for broadcast on television. In 2014 we trained Welsh comedian Rhod Gilbert on his BBC show ‘Rhod Gilbert’s Work Experience’ when he took on the role of wedding planner alongside one of our graduates.

We continue to make connections with many delightful venues and suppliers and you may receive free gifts from our partners as a result.

Can you help me to get work experience?

Oh yes, in fact we encourage it. Click here for full details on work experience.

Do you offer a guarantee?

Yes. This is our guarantee to you: If you follow all of the WPS advice given in the two short courses or the Elite course and don’t get your first client within 12 months of finishing the course we’ll give you a free one-to-one mentoring worth £1900. (Terms and conditions for the guarantee)

As far as we know we are the only people who do offer a 12-month success guarantee. We are able to offer this reassurance because we are confident in our courses and the support services that provide ongoing help for you.

Do I have to attend a taught course AND do the correspondence course?

No, you can study both short courses from home or do them both in the classroom. You are also allowed to mix formats, but if you prefer to stick to just one style that is acceptable and you won’t miss out on anything.  In the Elite course you will automatically do prepartion study at home and a week of classroom and practical learning.

Which courses do you recommend?

We have a very quick test to help you decide what’s right for you based on key decision-making factors.

If you want to be an elite wedding or event planner with maximum training to get the most clients and the best possible chance of being profitable and happy in your career then we recommend the one-year course because of the depth and time spent with your tutors.

If you want to get going quickly the one-year course is still extremely useful as tutors will mentor you at your chosen pace. If you enrol on it early you can start taking advantage of the support services right away to get started while you wait for the first class. However, if you are impatient to get started on the formal learning apply for a home study correspondence course.

If possible, we recommend that you follow up your studies with practical work experience.

Do I have to do all of the courses?

No. The majority of students complete the professional planning course followed by the business and marketing for wedding & event planners courses OR just do the Elite one year course. However if you do study any of the short courses and then go on to do the elite course you may get all or part of your short-course fees offset so you will be up to £1000 better off.

When I have completed the course can you help me in my career?

Yes, that’s exactly what we’re here for. We keep in touch with you and send fortnightly emails featuring job vacancies, work experience, media opportunities, grants for higher levels, top tips, access to free face-to-face consultations with WPS staff, invitations to exclusive events and membership of the Best Practice Association. All graduates are encouraged to display a free reciprocal link on the updates page to help promote themselves & their businesses.

Can I get a job through you?

Lots of people have, and others have been head-hunted by franchises too. When recruiters contact us looking for job candidates we will gladly forward information to our best candidates. We will never share your details with an outside organisation without permission. Ultimately the onus is on you to actively find employment but we are happy to provide a reference, check CVs and provide advice.

Can I pay in instalments to help spread the cost?

Yes. Tuition fees for all courses can be paid in instalments to make it easier, subject to the start date of the course. Email us to ask about the best deal for you.

For your own protection you should always read the terms and conditions.

We also offer special rates for armed forces personnel and their families.

Why do you need terms and conditions?

All money that is paid into The Wedding Planner School by its students and donors is immediately invested in new projects, new staff and better resources to make sure that our teaching continues to be the best in the industry and our students get the benefit of that. When one person fails to pay projects stall, money is wasted and our current and future students lose out. Therefore we follow our terms and conditions closely and expect our students to do the same.

Is The Wedding Planner School the best option for me?

Yes absolutely. Our reviews exceed all other training providers, our students achieve more, they save money, make more money and feel more supported. You can go and enrol on a meaningless online course for less money but your clients will see through that and you’ll learn a fraction of what you need to know then be left to fend for yourself. WPS is about making you the best at what you do and supporting you not just during your studies but for the life of your career in wedding planning and events management.

We don’t make you sign up to expensive annual subscriptions for membership, we give our awards on merit and achievements. Employers know that and so do your clients – that’s why they will choose you over the unqualified or lesser-trained candidates on offer.

Is it possible to fail the courses?

Yes. It doesn’t happen very often, but these accreditations and awards have to go to people who have earned them, not just paid for them, otherwise they become worthless. Follow the guidance given by your tutors, demonstrate your understanding, show what you have learned. If so, passing the course will be easy.
